Here at SwiftServe IT, we are often engaged by customers who have sadly been affected by scammers. In the same vein as our other recent posts, home computer users are increasingly falling victim to scammers tactics. There is much room for improvement by all of us to better understand the tactics used by scammers. Phishing email awareness is one such topic.

📧 Would you know if an email is a scam?

Phishing emails are one of the most common ways scammers trick people into giving up their personal details, passwords, or even money. They often look convincing at first glance — but there are usually red flags hiding in plain sight:

🚩 Spelling & Grammar Mistakes
Legitimate companies rarely send out poorly written messages. If it looks sloppy, it probably is.

🚩 Sense of Urgency
“Act now or your account will be locked!” – Scammers love to pressure you into reacting without thinking.

🚩 Suspicious Links
Hover your mouse over links before clicking. If the web address looks strange, misspelled, or doesn’t match the sender, don’t click.

🚩 Unexpected Attachments
Never open attachments from unknown senders — they often contain malware.

💡 Pro Tip: When in doubt, don’t click. Contact the company or person directly using their official website or phone number.

At SwiftServe IT, we regularly help both businesses and home users protect themselves from phishing threats.

✅ Stay alert.
✅ Slow down before you click.
✅ Ask if something feels “off.”

👉 Think you’ve received a suspicious email? Don’t panic — get in touch with SwiftServe IT for support.
