“We are passionate about Queensland, and Toondah is something special. It is an opportunity to create something that will help the islands and invigorate the ferry terminal with proper port facilities, making it a place people want to go,” Mr Walker said.
The business leaders forum is part of the Championing Redlands Coast initiative and was hosted by Walker Corp and the Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce at Sirromet Winery last Wednesday.
Championing Redlands Coast is a future focused vision driven by president of the chamber, Rebecca Young.
“CRC is an economic initiative, that is bringing together many pieces of the puzzle to allow us all to easily understand our Redlands economic profile, our industry sector strengths and opportunities as well as identifying what projects and jobs are on the horizon through our project pipeline findings,” she said.
Ms Young said the initiative allowed the chamber to create a narrative of where the city is headed and where the employment and business creation opportunities existed.
“It is also about celebrating our successes and bringing industry, government and community together to shape our region’s economy, culture, lifestyle, jobs and career pathways for Redlands residents.”
The Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce is delivering a range of initiatives and events under the direction of the Redlands Regional Jobs Committee, which is one of six regional jobs committees funded by the Queensland government.
“With foresight and planning we intend to create a bright future for the Redlands Coast, particularly for our youth ensuring job opportunities that provide work life balance are available, therefore retaining our talent and preventing the brain drain to other regions.”
